As part of the visit to France, the Ukrainian delegation, comprising Minister for Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha, Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov, and Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, held a series of meetings.
In particular, bilateral talks were held between the Ukrainian delegation and the U.S. delegation, which included U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Presidential Envoys Steve Witkoff and Keith Kellogg.
The Ukrainian side emphasized its commitment to peace efforts together with the United States, European, and other partners, and its determination to end the war as soon as possible. Ukrainian officials once again stressed the need for a full ceasefire – one that Ukraine agreed to back on March 11 in Jeddah.
The parties held a constructive and positive discussion on the paths toward a full ceasefire and the further process of achieving a comprehensive, just, and enduring peace. They also agreed to maintain regular dialogue on the issues discussed.
Later, both delegations met in a multilateral format together with representatives of the Coalition of the Willing: Diplomatic Adviser to the President of France Emmanuel Bonne, National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Jonathan Powell, and Foreign Policy and Security Adviser to the Federal Chancellor of Germany Jens Plötner.
The meeting participants agreed that a full and unconditional ceasefire should become the first stage on the path toward a durable peace in Ukraine and exchanged views on the practical implementation of this stage.
The Ukrainian side specifically emphasized the importance of the humanitarian aspect – returning Ukrainian children forcibly taken to Russia, and securing the release of prisoners of war and civilian hostages. Such confidence-building measures are essential elements for launching the peace process.
The parties also discussed the next steps and agreed to maintain regular contacts as part of advancing the peace efforts.
