The Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, held a meeting with Anders Fogh Rasmussen, NATO Secretary General from 2009 to 2014.
Andriy Yermak emphasized that today all efforts of Ukraine and its partners are aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace.
At the same time, he noted: if there are no reliable security guarantees, there will certainly be a new escalation and war, which could further affect the whole of Europe. After all, despite its public statements, the Russian Federation does not want real peace and continues its aggression, particularly against civilians and critical infrastructure.
Andriy Yermak and Anders Fogh Rasmussen discussed key messages from the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. Special attention was given to strengthening Europe's efforts for its own defense and further support for Ukraine, as well as the importance of Europe's active role in the future security system.
In addition, they discussed the idea of establishing a new task force to develop a concept of a security guarantee mechanism to ensure sustainable peace in Ukraine, taking into account the successful experience of the International Task Force on Security and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine. This should be a comprehensive solution that will be subsequently translated into political, diplomatic, military and legal actions.
