In Lviv, the President talked to relatives and friends of the fallen ATO/JFO heroes

During a working trip to the Lviv region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy honored the memory of the fallen ATO/JFO heroes and talked to their relatives and friends.

The Head of State laid flowers at the memorial sign at Lychakiv Cemetery. There are a number of honorable graves on the territory of the cemetery. A place for burial of ATO/JFO participants was also allocated. Major-General Serhiy Kulchytsky, Colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Andriy Sokolenko, Hero of Ukraine, famous opera singer Vasyl Slipak, other military and Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred are buried here.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy admitted that at the place of burial of the heroes he is overwhelmed with heavy feelings, because he is aware of the high price they paid defending Ukraine.

"My condolences and gratitude to all of you - from all Ukrainians for the heroism, for the fact that they gave their lives for us, for our sovereignty," the Head of State addressed members of the families of the fallen warriors.

Those present at the meeting thanked Volodymyr Zelenskyy for equating the volunteers who defended Ukraine in rights with military personnel who took part in the hostilities. In response, the President said that he considered it fair.

On behalf of the relatives of the fallen volunteers, the Head of State was asked to help ensure that their names are mentioned during commemorative events in the "Hall of Remembrance" at the Ministry of Defense.

The parties also discussed the issue of payments to the families of combatants who died after returning from the frontline, the amount of support for the dependents of the fallen warriors, the investigation into the circumstances of the death of the military.

Special attention was paid to providing housing for servicemen and combatants, as the queue is very long in Lviv and the region. The President instructed to study the situation in more detail and provide proposals for possible pilot projects.
