In Kraków, the President of Ukraine Met with the Marshal of the Polish Sejm

In Kraków, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Szymon Hołownia.

The Head of State arrived in Poland to participate in events marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, where more than one million people were killed during World War II. Most of the victims murdered by the Nazis were Jews. Today, the world honors the memory of all Holocaust victims. This crime against humanity must never happen again, which is why it is so important to fight the evil that still exists in the world.

"We are very grateful to Poland for the invitation. This is a very special and meaningful day for us. And we also thank the entire Polish people for your support throughout this war," he said.

Strengthening our nation militarily is crucial for achieving a just and lasting peace. Ukraine counts on the continued support of the Polish Sejm, in particular through the strengthening of sanctions policies against Russia.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Szymon Hołownia highlighted the importance of the summit of the speakers of the parliaments of Ukraine, Poland, and the Baltic states, launched in June last year. The summit focuses on supporting the Ukrainian state and strengthening security in Europe.

Special attention was given to negotiations regarding Ukraine's accession to the European Union and the anticipated opening of the first negotiation clusters during Poland’s presidency of the Council of the EU.

The parties also discussed the implementation of joint projects to improve border crossing infrastructure and create appropriate conditions for Ukrainians and Poles during border control procedures.

Szymon Hołownia noted that this meeting once again confirms the strength of relations between Ukraine and Poland, which should remain so in the future.
