First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska met with President of Moldova Maia Sandu.
"Your country demonstrates solidarity and a deep understanding of the importance of our joint efforts in this extremely difficult period. I would like to especially thank you for the warm shelter that Moldova has provided to more than 125 thousand forcibly displaced Ukrainians," Olena Zelenska said.
The First Lady also thanked Moldova for implementing joint cultural projects, including the opening of more than 70 Ukrainian Bookshelves in Moldovan libraries.
In addition, Olena Zelenska and Maia Sandu visited the School of Superheroes, which operates at the National Cancer Institute.
"Today I have the opportunity to show you a unique educational project that has been successfully implemented in Ukraine for several years. Schools of Superheroes are educational spaces in children's hospitals that allow children who have to stay in hospitals for long-term treatment to continue the educational process and have access to lessons along with their classmates," said Olena Zelenska.
Of the 17 such spaces located in 13 cities, six were opened last year with the support of the Olena Zelenska Foundation
"And we will open at least 6 more such Schools – in Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Lutsk, Chernivtsi, Ternopil and Mukachevo. Our separate goal is to restore the branch in Okhmatdyt, which was destroyed by a Russian missile last summer," the First Lady added.
Olena Zelenska and Maia Sandu learned about the peculiarities of teaching in grades 5-11 of the School, attended a lesson dedicated to the Day of Ukraine's Unity, and chatted with the students.
"Our sincere admiration and best wishes go to all these Superheroes who, despite their difficult treatment, find the strength and desire to learn. Our Schools and teachers, for their part, are doing and will continue to do everything to ensure that new knowledge and experiences contribute to their treatment and long, happy lives," the First Lady concluded.
