As part of his participation in the European Political Community Summit in Granada, Spain, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni.

The Head of State thanked the Italian Prime Minister for solidarity and comprehensive support for Ukraine in countering Russian aggression.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed his interlocutor about the current situation at the front and the offensive operations of the Ukrainian defense forces aimed at de-occupying Ukrainian lands. The President noted the urgent need of the Russian army for a long pause in hostilities.

"Any weakening of military assistance to Ukraine will contribute to the strengthening of the occupiers and repeated attempts to seize new Ukrainian territories," he emphasized.

In the context of preparing the next defense package from Italy, the leaders discussed military support for Ukraine, including bolstering Ukraine's air defense to protect civilians and grain infrastructure.

Separately, they discussed the conclusion of a bilateral agreement between Ukraine and Italy on security guarantees based on the G7 Joint Declaration of Support for our country, adopted at the NATO Summit in Vilnius.

The interlocutors also focused on how the upcoming Italy's G7 Presidency could help Ukraine.

The leaders emphasized the inadmissibility of weaponization of energy, food, or any other social issues.

The President of Ukraine commended the readiness of the Italian government to take Odesa under its patronage, in particular, to finance the restoration of Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral and other historical landmarks of the city damaged by Russian missile attacks.
