The Second Preparatory Meeting on the Creation of an International Compensation Mechanism Was Held in The Hague

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Iryna Mudra, led Ukraine's delegation in The Hague at the second preparatory meeting on the international instrument for creating a claims commission for Ukraine.

Representatives from 57 delegations from all continents, the EU, and the Council of Europe participated in the second meeting. They confirmed their agreement on the key principles of the future commission's work and conducted the first reading of the draft of this instrument. They also agreed on a plan for formal negotiations, which are expected to be completed next year with the signing of the agreement on establishing the relevant commission.

In addition, Deputy Head of the Office of the President, Iryna Mudra, visited the International Criminal Court, where she had meetings with Registrar of the ICC Osvaldo Zavala Giler, Trust Fund for Victims Executive Director Deborah Ruiz Verduzco and Head of the Ukraine Unified Team Brenda J. Hollis.

Iryna Mudra and the representatives of the ICC discussed Ukraine’s ratification of the Rome Statute, participation in the upcoming Assembly of State Parties, cooperation with the Trust Fund for Victims and further steps to ensure accountability for international crimes, provide justice and support for victims of these crimes and increase cooperation between Ukraine and the ICC, as well as our state’s efforts towards accountability for the crime of aggression.
