President visited innovative lyceum in Dnipro and talked to its students

During a working trip to Dnipropetrovsk region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy observed the educational process and security conditions at Synergy Lyceum regional municipal educational institution, teaching social science and physical education.

This lyceum is an experimental site within the framework of the innovative Swiss-Ukrainian educational project "Healthy School Model. Acting for Health".

Volodymyr Zelenskyy watched a swimming lesson held in the institution's swimming pool.

He also visited the classrooms where research papers are prepared for the Junior Academy of Sciences. The lyceum students' research papers are presented at the regional and all-Ukrainian competition – the defense of research papers of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, as well as at international competitions.

The President spoke with students from different classes who switched to blended learning in April 2023.

At the Ukrainian language lesson, the children read their poems to Volodymyr Zelenskyy and gave him drawings with wishes.

Students asked the President questions, such as whether he has time for sports and whether it is difficult to be President.

"I think it's equally difficult for all of us. We all have our own work. I am the President, you are studying. Studying is a big and very important job," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The President was also shown a shelter designed for 385 people. Thanks to its arrangement, the educational process at the lyceum is carried out in a blended format in two shifts.

Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration Serhiy Lysak reported on the conditions of shelters in educational institutions in the region. In particular, in 2023, communities received a subvention from the state budget for the arrangement of safe conditions in secondary education institutions. Major repairs or reconstruction of shelters were carried out in 24 general secondary education institutions that were in poor condition. This improved safety conditions for almost 13,000 students.

There are 806 schools in Dnipropetrovsk region. In 2023, the number of institutions operating in a full-time or blended format increased to 499 (58%), providing educational services to more than 184 thousand children as of the beginning of this year. There are 252 schools in need of shelters. Another 55 schools are located in danger zones, making it impossible to create conditions for full-time or blended learning.
