On Power Engineers' Day, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with energy industry workers and presented state awards.
"I am pleased to congratulate all of you personally on your day, the Day of Power Engineer, and to thank you for your work, which is so important for all of us, for everyone in our country. And even in Ukraine's neighboring countries, which we periodically support with our energy," he said.
As the Head of State noted, the fact that Ukraine currently has electricity and heat is due to the great work, personal efforts and even heroism of our power engineers.
"The first month of winter is coming to an end, and our cities and villages, our industries, which are so important, are now supplied with energy. Despite all Russia's attempts to destroy our energy system, its stability has been preserved," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
According to the President, a lot has been done this year to safeguard Ukraine's critical energy facilities. Repair crews of power engineers are always working throughout the country, even in the most difficult areas – near the front line and the border with Russia.
"May the memory of all your colleagues, extraordinary people who helped every day through the challenge of last winter and now, who, fulfilling their duty as human beings and professionals, did not allow families, children, and military to be left without electricity, never fade in Ukraine" the Head of State emphasized.
The attendees honored with a minute of silence the memory of the power engineers who were killed while performing their official duties.
"I am grateful to every team, company, and employee of our energy industry. Thank you for your excellent work for the sake of Ukraine, for the sake of our society. It is truly a feat to preserve our energy sector in such conditions, in such a confrontation. Well done to everyone – from workers to engineers and managers of the industry! I really appreciate you all! And all Ukrainians have a lot to thank you for," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President presented state awards to employees of the energy industry: Orders of Merit III class, Orders for Courage III class and Orders of Princess Olga III class.
The Head of State also handed over the Orders for Courage III class to the relatives of the power engineers awarded posthumously.
