As part of the fourth meeting of national security and political advisors on the Ukrainian Peace Formula in Davos, the Ukrainian delegation, led by Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, met with representatives of a number of European countries.
During the meetings with representatives of the European Union member states, attention was paid to bilateral cooperation in the context of the implementation of the Peace Formula and preparation for the upcoming Global Peace Summit, as well as to the issue of Ukraine's European integration with a focus on further macro-financial support for our country and measures to facilitate the negotiation process for EU accession.
The Ukrainian delegation met with Diplomatic Advisor to the Prime Minister of Italy Fabrizio Saggio. Ukraine thanked its Italian partners for their comprehensive assistance in countering Russia's armed aggression and called for strengthening defense capabilities, including air defense, to save Ukrainian lives and ensure the safety of Ukrainian cities. The interlocutors coordinated joint efforts in the context of this year's Italian presidency of the G7 and discussed joint work on bilateral security guarantees within the framework of the G7 Joint Declaration.
The delegation also met with Undersecretary of State, Head of the International Policy Bureau under the President of Poland Mieszko Pawlak. The Ukrainian side thanked the Polish partners for their comprehensive assistance and solidarity with Ukraine in countering Russia's armed aggression. The parties emphasized the need to rally the world around the implementation of the Peace Formula as the only way to end the war. The interlocutors discussed in detail the issue of blocking by European countries of Ukrainian grain exports by land after September 15 last year. It was noted that Ukraine counts on a balanced and unified approach of the EU in supporting our country, which courageously resists Russian aggression, rather than hasty unilateral measures.
In Davos, the Ukrainian delegation also held a bilateral meeting with State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania Iulian Fota. The interlocutors highly appreciated the decision on strategic partnership between Ukraine and Romania and emphasized the importance of working together to further fill it with practical results. Bilateral defense cooperation was discussed in detail, including aspects of training Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets at a training center in Romania.
The Ukrainian delegation also met with Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of the Slovak Republic Jana Kobzová and thanked her for supporting and strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities in countering Russian aggression. They also discussed further defense cooperation between the two countries. The interlocutors also discussed the issue of European countries blocking Ukrainian grain exports by land. The Ukrainian side counts on a balanced and unified approach of the EU in supporting Ukraine, which courageously resists Russian aggression.
The Ukrainian delegation also held a bilateral meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic Jan Marian. Ukraine praised the Czech Republic's comprehensive assistance and solidarity in countering Russia's armed aggression and discussed defense cooperation between the two countries.
The Ukrainian delegation also met with Bertrand Buchwalter, Advisor to the President of the French Republic on Eastern Europe and Türkiye. The Ukrainian side thanked the French partners for supporting Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic aspirations and the capabilities of the Ukrainian army in the fight against the aggressor.
During a meeting with Jens Plötner, Foreign Policy Advisor to the Federal Chancellor of Germany, Andriy Yermak thanked Germany and Jens Plötner personally for their continued participation in consultations on the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula. Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak highly appreciated Germany's continued support for the Ukrainian Peace Formula. The parties discussed in detail the current situation on the frontline and the security needs of our country. The Ukrainian side thanked Germany for its significant contribution to the historic decision of the European Union to start negotiations with Ukraine. The important role of Chancellor Olaf Scholz in this matter was emphasized.
The Ukrainian delegation also met with Secretary General of the Department of Foreign Affairs at the Cabinet of the President of the Spanish Government Emma Aparici. The Ukrainian delegation highly appreciated Spain's comprehensive assistance and solidarity with Ukraine in countering Russia's armed aggression and discussed defense cooperation between the two countries.
The Ukrainian side met with Adriaan Eiselstein, Acting Foreign and Security Policy Advisor to the Office of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The Ukrainian delegation expressed gratitude to the Dutch partners for supporting the capabilities of the Ukrainian army in the fight against the aggressor and for the important joint work to bring the aggressor to justice. The interlocutors discussed the work on bilateral security commitments within the framework of the G7 Vilnius Declaration and the measures of bilateral political dialogue in the nearest future.
In Davos, a bilateral meeting was held with John Debono, Ambassador of Malta to Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Ukraine with residence in Malta. The Ukrainian delegation expressed gratitude to the Maltese side for organizing the previous meeting of national security advisors on the Ukrainian Peace Formula in Malta.
At the meeting with Dragomir Zakov, Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria on Foreign and Security Policy, the Ukrainian delegation expressed gratitude for the support of the Ukrainian Peace Formula and readiness to contribute to its practical implementation. The role of Bulgaria as a co-leader in the implementation of the environmental security clause of the Peace Formula was noted and further joint actions to achieve progress in this area were discussed. During the meeting, special attention was paid to the discussion of security issues and the current needs of Ukrainian defenders. The interlocutors also discussed the security of the Black Sea region and the protection of the alternative "grain corridor" from attacks by Russian terrorists.
The Ukrainian delegation met with Alija Kozljak, Advisor to the Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and discussed the intensification of political dialogue between the two countries. The parties also exchanged views on further steps towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During the meeting with the State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia, Filip Tosevski, the Ukrainian side expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of Ukraine. The interlocutors discussed further defense support from North Macedonia, taking into account the priority needs of Ukrainian defenders. They also discussed further steps to implement the Peace Formula. Special attention was paid to further support from North Macedonia on the path of Ukraine's integration into the EU and NATO. The representatives of the Ukrainian state expressed gratitude for North Macedonia's accession to the G7 Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine and emphasized the importance of starting negotiations on a bilateral agreement between Ukraine and the Republic of North Macedonia.
In addition, the Ukrainian delegation met with the State Secretary for Foreign Policy of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Vojko Volk. The parties exchanged views on the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula and the possibility of involving as many countries as possible, including Slovenia, in this process.
Ukraine's representatives noted that Slovenia could make an effective contribution to the implementation of certain points of the Formula, in particular in the area of food security. The interlocutors also discussed the possibilities of expanding bilateral cooperation, positively noting Slovenia's participation in the Grain from Ukraine initiative. The parties emphasized the importance of further strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities. Special attention was paid to further support from Slovenia on the path of Ukraine's integration into the EU and NATO.
The meeting with National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic Thanos Dokos was devoted to further steps towards the preparation of the Global Peace Summit and practical involvement of Greece in the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula. The Ukrainian side thanked Greece for its recent decisions to join the implementation of the points of the Ukrainian Peace Formula on food security and combating ecocide. The parties discussed the mechanisms of cooperation in the context of deterring the aggressor, in particular, further strengthening of the EU sanctions against Russia and preventing the aggressor state from circumventing sanctions. The Ukrainian side also thanked Greece for its political, humanitarian and military assistance to Ukraine and expressed hope for Greece's support in the context of European integration.
During a meeting with National Security Advisor to the President of the Republic of Latvia Aivars Puriņš, the interlocutors discussed further defense support from Latvia, emphasizing the priority of launching the full-fledged work of the Drone Coalition. The parties discussed further steps to implement the Ukrainian Peace Formula and to engage in the practical implementation of several of its points.
Special attention was paid to the issue of the G7 Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine. Ukraine's representatives thanked Latvia for its readiness to negotiate a bilateral agreement on security commitments.
At the meeting with Director General of the Department for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia Marge Mardisalu-Kahar, the parties discussed cooperation between the two countries in the context of the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula and preparation for the upcoming Global Peace Summit. The Ukrainian delegation thanked the Estonian side for supporting Ukraine and effectively strengthening our country's defense capabilities during the unprovoked Russian aggression. The Ukrainian delegation also expressed gratitude to Estonia for its leadership in creating an IT coalition in support of Ukraine. The parties discussed the prospects of concluding a bilateral agreement on security commitments before Ukraine joins NATO. Estonia confirmed its readiness to start practical consultations on this issue.
The Ukrainian delegation met with Stanislav Secrieru, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Moldova on Defense and National Security, Secretary of the Supreme Security Council of the Republic of Moldova. The interlocutors discussed the issues of cooperation between the two countries in the context of the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula and preparation for the upcoming Global Peace Summit. The parties exchanged views on topical issues of regional security, challenges and threats from Russia and emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in this area. They also coordinated further European integration steps of the two countries in the context of the start of negotiations on EU membership.
The Ukrainian delegation also met with Andrea Bacher, Foreign and Security Policy Advisor to the Austrian Federal Minister for European and International Affairs. The Ukrainian side expressed gratitude to Austria for its support of the Peace Formula and readiness to join the implementation of its individual points. Ukraine also called on Austria to join the G7 Joint Declaration adopted on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Vilnius. Ukraine's representatives expressed their expectations for Austria's support in matters related to the launch of Ukraine's negotiations with the EU.
During the meeting between the Ukrainian delegation and Director of the Diplomatic Directorate of the Office of the President of Hungary Kristóf Altusz, the parties discussed Ukraine's progress on the path to European integration, including the recent adoption of a number of important European integration bills by the Verkhovna Rada. The representatives of Ukraine emphasized the importance of Hungary's support for Ukraine, in particular, in the fight against the Russian aggressor, as well as on the path to the European Union and NATO. The parties discussed in detail the issues of cooperation between the two countries in the context of the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula, the schedule of further political contacts and topical issues of cross-border cooperation.
During the meeting with the UK delegation headed by National Security Advisor Timothy Barrow, the parties discussed the results of the recent visit of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to Ukraine and emphasized the importance of the bilateral security agreement within the framework of the Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine adopted in Vilnius in July 2023 by the G7 countries. The parties also discussed further prospects for the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula. The parties exchanged views on the current security situation in the Black Sea. The parties emphasized their readiness to continue active cooperation to ensure freedom of navigation in the region.
The Ukrainian delegation also met with the Diplomatic Advisor to the Prime Minister of Ireland, Helen Blake, to discuss Ireland's practical involvement in the implementation of certain points of the Peace Formula and preparations for the upcoming Global Peace Summit. The Ukrainian delegation thanked Ireland for its consistent political and humanitarian support of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in countering Russian aggression. The parties also coordinated their positions in preparation for the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU.
During the meeting with the Foreign Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister of Iceland, Sesselja Sigurdardóttir, the results of the second Ukraine-Northern Europe Summit held in Oslo last December were discussed. The Ukrainian delegation thanked Iceland for the important defense support provided by this Scandinavian country to Ukraine within the framework of multilateral cooperation formats. Special attention was paid to Euro-Atlantic integration and support for Ukraine's accession to NATO.
In Davos, the Ukrainian side also met with the Norwegian delegation headed by Director General of the Department of International Affairs of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Norway Kjersti Andersen. The parties emphasized the effectiveness of the established cooperation in the Ukraine-Northern Europe format and stressed the readiness to continue its functioning. The parties also discussed the current situation on the battlefield and the priority areas of cooperation between the two countries in the defense and security spheres.
During the meeting with the Finnish delegation, headed by Director of Foreign and Security Policy to the President of the Republic of Finland Jani Raappana, the parties emphasized Helsinki's active support for the Ukrainian Peace Formula and participation in the implementation of its six points. The Ukrainian side thanked Finland for 21 defense assistance packages worth about €3.6 billion and expressed hope for further deepening cooperation in the security sector in 2024.
In addition, the Ukrainian delegation in Davos met with representatives of the European Commission, the European Council and the European Parliament. The focus was on Ukraine's further progress toward full membership in the European Union, as well as on ensuring long-term support for Ukraine from European institutions in repelling Russia's armed aggression.
