Ceasefire regime continues: 20 demining sites and 4 new disengagement sites have been agreed at the TCG meeting

A regular meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group (Ukraine, Russia, OSCE) was held in the format of a video conference with the participation of the new Head of the Ukrainian delegation - President of Ukraine in 1991-1994 Leonid Kravchuk and First Deputy Head of delegation Vitold Fokin.

During a meeting of the working group on security, Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission Yaşar Halit Çevik stressed that since the introduction of a package of additional measures to consolidate the ceasefire regime on July 27, the ceasefire regime had been observed in general, and no violations had been recorded by the OSCE SMM in early August.

No Ukrainian servicemen have been killed in hostilities in Donbas for 24 days.

The security group reached an agreement on 20 demining sites within the updated plan provided for in the communiqué of the Paris Summit of the "Normandy Four" of December 9, 2019.

This will allow to advance the implementation of the agreements reached by the leaders of the Normandy format in Paris and bring the Summit of the "Normandy Four" in Berlin closer.

The Ukrainian party also supported the need to develop a framework decision of the TCG on demining, which will help optimize further work on this issue.

The Ukrainian delegation also supported proposals regarding four new disengagement areas.

During the discussion of the results of the economic group's work, it was stated that the Ukrainian water supply company will continue to supply drinking water to the Ukrainian population living in the temporarily occupied territory on a permanent basis.

Within the humanitarian working group, progress has been made on the mutual release of detainees.

The Ukrainian party once again underscored the implementation of all agreements on the confirmation of the lists for the mutual release of detainees and confirmed the information on persons requested by the participants in the consultations.

Ukraine expects mirror and symmetrical actions from the other side.

During the political group, in order to intensify the Minsk negotiation process, taking a proactive position, the Ukrainian party stressed the need to implement the Paris Agreements of the leaders of the "Normandy Four", including the continuation of work on legislation to implement the "Steinmeier Formula".

Leonid Kravchuk informed the TCG participants about submitting an appeal to the Verkhovna Rada within preparations for the local elections in Ukraine with a proposal to consider compliance of the Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada "On appointing the next local elections in 2020" with the Law of Ukraine "On special order of local government in certain districts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions”, as well as with a set of measures to implement the Minsk agreements, which was supported by UN Security Council Resolution 2202 (2015).
