Advisor - Presidential Commissioner for Barrier-Free Environment Tetiana Lomakina took part in the global Zero Project Conference in Vienna.

She described how the war changed the lives of people from different social groups, including people with disabilities. Tetiana Lomakina emphasized the challenges facing Ukraine and shared her vision of ways to overcome them.

Among other things, the Advisor - Presidential Commissioner spoke about the arrangement of bomb shelters, evacuation and accommodation of people from the affected regions, and interaction between the authorities, NGOs, international companies and foundations.

"These are the lessons of hostilities. And now we are looking for resources and expertise to fulfill the tasks we are facing during the war. I am grateful to those who support our people and invite everyone who can join us and help us in the future. Because there are many unmet needs, and it’s not about days or hryvnias, but about human lives," said Tetiana Lomakina.

The Zero Project Conference, which took place on February 22-24 at the United Nations Office in Vienna, widely covered the topic of the war in Ukraine and assistance to people affected by the aggression of the Russian Federation.

In particular, the main Zero Project Recognition Award 2023 went to the Purple Vest Mission group, which included representatives of the Israeli organization Access Israel and the Japanese organization The Nippon Foundation. The group evacuated more than 3,500 representatives of low-mobility social groups, primarily people with disabilities, from the war-torn areas of Ukraine.
