The Fourth Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen will take place on September 12 in Kyiv. This was announced by First Lady Olena Zelenska at a press conference dedicated to the Fourth Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen.
The meeting with journalists was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi, Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovych, Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets, and Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Valeriya Ionan.
"This is an important event both for me and for the international community of first ladies and gentlemen, which has rapidly developed and evolved into a permanent global platform that benefits Ukraine and the world. It is pleasant not just that we exist – but that we are constantly evolving and helping people," said Olena Zelenska.
The First Lady said that the theme of this year's First Ladies and Gentlemen Summit is "Child Security". The first ladies and gentlemen, leading Ukrainian and international experts will discuss various threats and challenges faced by children at home, at school and online. The first panel will be dedicated to children in armed conflicts.
"This is a sensitive topic for Ukraine, where Russia kills and maims children every day and has already abducted 19,000 children. But although the war continues and remains the biggest pain for Ukrainians, our country is not only focused on itself, but is also looking for new solutions to global threats and challenges. Because children's safety is multidimensional," the First Lady said.
For the first time, the results of a large-scale sociological study "Key Threats to Children", conducted specifically for the event, will be presented at the Summit.
The Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen is an international annual event initiated by Olena Zelenska in 2021. It is a global platform that brings together first ladies and gentlemen to address global challenges.
The first summit launched an international platform for solving humanitarian problems. The second helped raise more than $6 million for 92 ambulances. On the sidelines of the third summit, which took place last year, a unique medical partnership was established. Ukrainian and foreign clinics entered into 25 medical collaborations then, and now there are 44 of them.
