Local tariffs for heating and hot water should not increase - Volodymyr Zelenskyy

At a meeting with mayors and the management of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, the parties agreed that local tariffs for heating and hot water will not increase. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this in his vlog.

"I call on the local authorities, whose powers include these issues, to treat it responsibly, taking care about ordinary people, ordinary Ukrainians," the Head of State stressed.

The President reminded that the Cabinet of Ministers set the maximum price at UAH 6.99 per 1 cubic meter of gas for household consumers.

"Less is possible, not more. This applies to the entire heating season. And this is exactly the end of the plans of some monopolists. They really wanted three things to grow: tariffs, their own pockets and discontent among the people," Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.

The Head of State informed that in the spring all gas supply companies should present annual products to the population.

"There should be a favorable, fixed price for the whole year. So that our people can plan their budget, see the price and know that no one has the right to raise it unexpectedly," the President said.

He also reminded that the government has simplified access to subsidies, and most citizens can receive them immediately after the application. The Cabinet of Ministers must allocate the necessary funds for subsidies.

"In general, the issue of tariffs should be analyzed and resolved comprehensively. Pursuant to my instruction, the government and the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities are currently working on this. In a word, we work so that your homes are heated and your wallets are not empty,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
