Where There Is a School, There Is Confidence in the Future: President Met with Educators from Border Areas

In the run-up to the Education Workers' Day, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with pedagogues from the Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Poltava regions in Sumy, where he presented them with state awards and honorary titles.

“This is a very important day for each of us. We realize this, especially in such difficult times of war,” the Head of State said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of teachers' work in the regions bordering the aggressor state.

“People say: where there is a church, there is faith and hope. It seems to me that where there is a school, there is confidence in the future,” the President added.

The Head of State thanked the educators for continuing their work in Ukraine and thus contributing to its security.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented the educators with state awards: Vyacheslav Kharchenko, Head of the Department of the National Aerospace University named after Mykola Zhukovsky “Kharkiv Aviation Institute”, with the Order of Merit, III class; Valery Karkachov, Master of Industrial Training of the Sumy Chemical and Technological Center for Professional and Technical Education, and Olena Semenog, Professor of the Department of the Sumy State Pedagogical University named after Anton Makarenko, with the Medals “For Labor and Valor”.

The President also conferred honorary titles: “Honored Teacher of Ukraine” to Viktor Zavadskyi, teacher of Oleksandrivskyi Lyceum, and Vitalina Myslovets, teacher of Myrhorod Lyceum named after Taras Shevchenko; “Honored Education Worker of Ukraine” to Tetiana Doroshenko, Head of the Department of the National University “Chernihiv Collegium” named after Taras Shevchenko, Vasyl Karpusha, Rector of Sumy State University, Valentyna Moskalenko, Associate Professor of the Department of the Chernihiv Polytechnic National University, Nina Rudnyk, Director of the Honcharivskyi Lyceum named after the Hero of the ATO Dmytro Stepanchenko, and Olena Ustymenko-Kosorich, Professor of the Department of the Sumy State Pedagogical University named after Anton Makarenko; “Honored Worker of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine” to Andriy Yevtyfiyev, Senior Lecturer at the Department of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”.

In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded a Medal "For Saved Life" to Nikita Savicheva, a schoolgirl from Sumy, who saved her younger brothers and a sister from a fire last year.
