The Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine is fully prepared to hold tenders for the renovation of 220 ERs in hub hospitals, as promised by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This was discussed at the traditional conference call on the prevention of the spread of COVID-19, chaired by the President with the participation of representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and law enforcement agencies. The President is already waiting for the list of the first line of the departments to be modernized.
"Life resumes and we must return to what was promised before the coronavirus pandemic. Ukrainians need comfortable hospitals with modern equipment. And now - even more so. All of us - both patients and doctors - are tired of physically and morally obsolete medical institutions. It is time to change that,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
Due to quarantine restrictions, the opening of the new building of Ohmatdyt Hospital was postponed, although the main construction works were completed there. Minister of Health Maksym Stepanov promised that the opening will be possible in late July.
"We promised the department in June. Coronavirus ruined our plans here as well. However, it is necessary to open the modern department of Ohmatdyt in the summer," the President said.
In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyy was informed that the National Health Service of Ukraine has signed agreements with all hospitals, and now doctors will receive salaries and allowances for the fight against coronavirus infection. Contracts have not been concluded with only several medical institutions that are currently out of operation, as they are under repair. The Ministry of Health will control this issue.
Contracts have also been signed for the supply of personal protective equipment and equipment needed to combat COVID-19. The first purchases will take place next week. The state enterprise "Medical Procurement of Ukraine" announced the purchase of 50 thousand respirators, which will be sent to the regions immediately. There is also a schedule of what will be purchased and when.
