Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba met with Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine Kuninori Matsuda.
Oleksiy Kuleba thanked the Ambassador for his position and continued assistance from Japan.
“Now our partner country is joining the restoration of the energy infrastructure destroyed by Russian shelling. Crucially, the attention of the Japanese partners is focused on the Kharkiv region. This region is under daily shelling. The enemy is systematically attacking the critical infrastructure of the region. And we need to prepare for the heating season together, combining our efforts,” Oleksiy Kuleba said.
Kuninori Matsuda condemned Russia's attacks on civilian infrastructure, including the recent attack on the Okhmatdyt children's hospital, and expressed solidarity and support for Ukraine.
The parties separately discussed the implementation of decentralization reform in Ukraine.
The Ambassador emphasized the importance of cooperation between Ukrainian regions, cities and communities and their Japanese partners for the recovery and reconstruction of our country. He also highlighted Ukraine's achievements during the Ukraine Recovery Conference, the Peace Summit, and the G7 and NATO Summits.
Oleksiy Kuleba invited the Ambassador to join the bi-weekly briefings with representatives of the Presidential Office, the Government, Regional Military Administrations, local authorities and diplomatic missions. The briefings will focus on prompt response to community requests and coordination with international partners.
