Deputy Head of the Office of the President Iryna Mudra met with Lilja Grétarsdóttir, the Council of Europe representative responsible for implementing human rights, justice, and legal cooperation standards.
During the meeting, the parties noted progress in the implementation of Council of Europe standards in the legal sphere and discussed further cooperation.
Iryna Mudra expressed gratitude to the Council of Europe experts for their support at all stages of Ukraine’s legal European integration.
“Despite the full-scale war, Ukraine actively continues to fulfill its international obligations, achieving significant progress in judicial reform and human rights protection. Experts from the Council of Europe have been deeply involved in the reform of Ukraine’s judicial system for many years. We will continue to rely on their effective advisory and technical support for all aspects of this reform,” she emphasized.
The meeting also covered collaboration with the Council of Europe to adapt Ukrainian legislation to European standards, including the full implementation of the Rome Statute.
A separate focus of the discussion was on steps to ensure that all those responsible for Russian aggression are held to account and that compensation is provided to affected Ukrainians.
