President of Ukraine

Speeches

We are working at every level. Russia must be held accountable for this war – and it will be, in every available form. We are also working on new defense packages for Ukraine – relevant announcements are being prepared.

There are two main objectives for today: namely, air defense systems, specifically Patriots, and the second objective is contingents, ensuring the swift alignment of all decisions and working out all details. Furthermore, the strengthening of our air shield will also reinforce all diplomatic efforts.

Last night and today, many around the world voiced their position in response to this strike – a clear rejection of Russian terror. To everyone who sees this and does not close their eyes, who speaks the truth clearly and directly – not only we in Ukraine, but the entire world should be grateful.

A ceasefire could have already been reached, and it is Putin who rejects it; it is Moscow that has refused a ceasefire since March 11; and it is they, in Russia, who want this war. And it’s obvious that Russia won’t be forced into peace just by talks or expectations.

We are working to defend our positions. We know what the enemy is counting on. In any case, we will defend our state, our independence and our people.

I visited our warriors who are recovering from their wounds. I spoke with veterans – there is an awesome initiative, Titans.UA. There was also an important meeting today with business representatives from our Dnipro region – which is currently the number one region in terms of contribution to Ukraine’s GDP and in many other economic areas.

A meeting will take place in just a few days – on Friday – with representatives of our partner states – these will be military representatives. The meeting will discuss a joint approach to the issue of contingents. We will work based on the prepared proposals from the Ukrainian side, and we need a joint approach for everyone in Europe, and therefore joint decisions.

Europe will not forget the moral conclusions drawn from this war. It cannot be allowed for Putin, other Russian criminals, and the Russian state itself to be absolved of responsibility.

Pressure on Russia and sanctions against it are necessary to ensure that the war and abuse do not expand further. Everyone understands this – everyone who does not turn a blind eye to reality and does not turn a deaf ear to the truth.

Russia deserves increased pressure – all the tough measures that can break its capacity to wage war and sustain the system that wants nothing but war.
