Situation on the Battlefield and Lifting Restrictions on the Use of Western Weapons: President Addressed the UK Government

Any attempt by Russia to expand the war can be stopped if restrictions on the use of Western weapons against Russian forces are lifted, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during his address to the UK Government.

"Once we can strike farther than just near the border, including Russian military airfields, we will not only protect ourselves from any Russian offensives, but also secure our frontline positions and cities from Russian bombs," the President noted.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Russia uses about 3,500 guided aerial bombs against Ukraine every month. These bombs cannot be intercepted, but all their carriers can be destroyed.

"And I ask you to show your leadership in this, and please – convince other partners to remove the limits. We need this step – a step that will force Russia to seek peace," he said.

President Zelenskyy is the first foreign leader in the last 27 years to address the UK Government. The last leader to do so was US President Bill Clinton in 1997.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also became the first official visitor to the Prime Minister's residence on Downing Street since Keir Starmer became the head of the UK Government.
