In the last few days, the National Police of Ukraine has tripled the number of administrative protocols due to quarantine violations. This was reported to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a traditional conference call on preventing the spread of coronavirus.
Due to the new anti-record incidence of COVID-19, there is a need for clear and coordinated communication with people about the quarantine rules, the President said.
"We need to communicate more clearly what adaptive quarantine is and how it affects the work of public institutions, transport. We need to develop a plan for the work of restaurants, beaches, night clubs accurately and in detail. When people understand this, they will adhere more to adaptive quarantine," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The government officials stressed that the return to tougher quarantine would be a severe blow to the economy, and agreed that closer coordination was needed in communication on quarantine measures with local authorities and the public.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reminded that a record number of coronavirus infections has been recorded in Ukraine over the past 24 hours - 921 people, 19 people died. He further noted that international news agencies report that a number of countries have also decided to follow the path of adaptive quarantine, introducing tougher measures in regions and cities depending on morbidity trends.
