During his working visit to the Kingdom of Sweden, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson.
The Head of State thanked him for organizing the third Ukraine-Nordic Summit in Stockholm, the results of which will directly affect the strengthening of Ukraine's defense capabilities. Volodymyr Zelenskyy also noted Sweden's significant and comprehensive assistance to our country since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion.
The leaders discussed the further development of bilateral cooperation in priority areas, including the possibility of launching joint defense production in both countries.
The interlocutors coordinated further steps to ensure the implementation of all provisions of the bilateral Security Agreement signed today.
“We are grateful for the strong agreement, which, among other things, provides Ukraine with more than USD 7 billion in military assistance for 2024–2026. I would also like to note and thank you for the 16th package of military assistance worth USD 1.25 billion, which meets Ukraine's request and our urgent needs,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President emphasized the importance of Sweden's active position in the preparations for the first Global Peace Summit. In particular, this refers to the Radiation and Nuclear Safety track, which Sweden is co-chairing.
The parties also paid attention to Ukraine's progress towards integration into the EU and NATO. The President thanked Sweden for its support of the respective aspirations of our country, which is counting on the start of negotiations on accession to the EU in June, as well as on the strong decisions of the NATO Summit in Washington, D.C., which will bring Ukraine closer to membership in the Alliance.
