We count on France's support in providing Ukraine with legal security guarantees – Ihor Zhovkva at a meeting with the French parliamentary delegation

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva held a meeting with the French parliamentary delegation led by Benjamin Haddad, the head of the France-Ukraine interparliamentary friendship group.

Zhovkva thanked France for the powerful support of our country in the fight against Russian aggression and noted the important role of the French Parliament in this.

The main focus of the parties was on the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula proposed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The deputy head of the Office of the President expressed his gratitude to the French side for its willingness to participate in the implementation of several of its points.

"Ukraine's Peace Formula remains the only effective mechanism for achieving just and lasting peace throughout the world. We continue working with our partners to prepare for the Global Peace Summit. It is important that this Summit gathers the widest range of participants, including the countries of the Global South," Zhovkva said.

Separately, the interlocutors discussed bringing to justice the top leadership of the aggressor state. Zhovkva thanked France for supporting the idea of creating a special tribunal to investigate the crime of aggression against Ukraine and for participating in the work of the relevant Core Group.

In addition, the parties considered the issue of providing effective security guarantees to Ukraine before our country acquires full membership in NATO.

In this context, Zhovkva thanked his French colleagues for adopting a Joint Declaration on Support of Ukraine in Vilnius on July 12 of this year, together with other G7 states, and outlined further joint steps in this direction.

"We are interested in the expedited development of a legally binding security draft agreement by the negotiating teams of our countries. We also count on the French Parliament's support in the process of ratifying the future agreement, including by implementing the necessary domestic procedures," the deputy head of the Office of the President said.

The parties also discussed the details of the preparation and France's participation in the second Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea Platform, which is scheduled to take place at the end of October in Prague.
