Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Roman Mashovets met with U.S. Chargé d'Affaires a.i. in Ukraine Kristina A. Kvien and other representatives of the U.S. Embassy. The participants in the meeting summed up the first results of the visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the United States regarding security and defense issues.
Mashovets noted the positive results of this visit, pointing out the signing of high-level contracts and a number of other important bilateral documents in the areas of strategic defense partnership, research, development and testing, joint space projects and the establishment of a secure communication line.
The Deputy Head of the Office of the President paid particular attention to the preparation of the visits of U.S. officials, which had been agreed upon in Washington, and the need to develop and approve practical measures to implement the agreements reached.
The parties also discussed further joint efforts aimed at implementing defense reforms, developing the security and defense sector of Ukraine, helping the United States move Ukraine closer to NATO membership, strengthening its cybersecurity system and attracting Ukrainian specialists in multilateral cooperation framework.
Mashovets thanked the United States for strategic support in the field of security, assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and advisory assistance which contributes to the development of the legislative framework and strengthening the defense capability of our state.
For her part, Kvien assured of the continued support of Ukraine regarding security guarantees and readiness to further deepen bilateral cooperation, which was nailed down at the political level during the visit of the President of Ukraine to the United States.
