Roman Mashovets and the US Defense Attaché discussed preparations for the visit of the President of Ukraine to the United States

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Roman Mashovets discussed with US Defense Attaché Brittany Stewart and other representatives of the US Embassy the course of defense reforms in Ukraine and preparations for the Ukrainian President's visit to the United States.

The representatives of the US Embassy were told about the holding of defense reforms in Ukraine and the implementation of recently approved laws and other documents on national security and defense. The interlocutors paid attention to the division of powers between the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Armed Forces, optimization of military administration, strengthening civilian democratic control, as well as building territorial defense and resistance in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Fundamentals of National Resistance" adopted on July 16.

In order to properly prepare for Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to the United States, the Deputy Head of the President's Office discussed the completion of three bilateral documents on defense partnership, research, development, testing and evaluation projects, and cooperation in the space sector. The American party expressed willingness to ensure the signing of these documents during the visit of the President of Ukraine to Washington.

The parties also discussed practical issues of bilateral defense cooperation, including the United States' assistance in developing Ukraine's defense capabilities, reforming the Armed Forces and Ukraine's defense industry.

Brittany Stewart assured of the unwavering support for the Ukrainian security and defense sector and noted the steady movement towards the deepening of the Ukrainian-American defense partnership.
