President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that each family that lost a home as a result of fires in the Luhansk region would receive UAH 300 thousand, each victim will also be allocated UAH 20 thousand in support, and separate payments would be made for the dead.
"First of all, I would like to express my condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in this fire. Now there is evidence that it is five people. I think by the end of the day we will have one hundred percent information. We will believe and hope that there will be no more victims," the President said during a conversation with the media in the fire-affected village of Smolyanynove, the Luhansk region.
According to him, 24 houses were completely destroyed, about 60 were significantly damaged.
"We need quick solutions. The priority is people. The Head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration is currently working on the resettlement, and this issue will be resolved today. We have decided to provide UAH 300,000 to each family that has lost their home… And we will talk to the Cabinet of Ministers, they have a meeting in parallel, we will allocate additional UAH 20,000 to each person separately for support,” the President said.
Assistance will also be provided to families whose relatives died in the fire.
According to Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, the government has reserved UAH 50 million to help the victims of the fire.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also thanked rescuers from other regions who joined the fire extinguishing in the Luhansk region for their quick response.
At the same time, the Head of State noted that the Verkhovna Rada should adopt a decision to provide the region with the necessary amount of equipment.
