Ukraine has been working hard on the issue of providing Western-type aircraft, and the decision of our partners to train Ukrainian pilots on modern fighter jets is the first step towards bolstering our country's air defense. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a meeting with representatives of the world's media in Hiroshima.

The Head of State emphasized that for even more reliable protection of the Ukrainian sky, we need not only modern anti-aircraft missile systems, for which Ukraine is extremely grateful to the partner states, but also Western-type aircraft.

"And today the training mission is open to us. This is the first step. Next, we have a certain number of months to train our pilots. We will work to ensure that these are the most experienced people at once to shorten the training process. To strengthen our air defense," Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.

The President expressed confidence that Ukraine would receive modern Western fighter jets. According to him, there is already an understanding of which countries are ready to work in this direction.

Answering journalists' questions about the prospects of receiving arms assistance from countries such as Japan or the Republic of Korea, he said that he would like all states that are able to provide Ukraine with arms assistance to do so. At the same time, it is understood that some countries have certain legislative or constitutional restrictions in this area.

In addition, the Head of State noted that Ukraine works with partners not only on the supply of weapons. For example, there is a strong interaction with Canada on demining equipment.

"We are talking about thousands of square kilometers. Because Russia is not just an enemy, they behave like terrorists, they have mined our fields. And here the help of one state will not be enough," the President said.
