Immediately after arriving home, National Guard Vitaliy Markiv met with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The meeting took place in the Office of the President in a warm atmosphere. The President inquired about Vitaliy Markiv's health and the details of his imprisonment.
"Good for you. Congratulations, very glad to meet you. I believe that this is really a joint victory, and above all - the victory of Ukraine at the international level. It's cool that we have such fighters. We did everything in our power," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
"Thank you very much, Mr. President. Your support was the key sign for me - not only as a citizen of Ukraine, but also as a serviceman, that the Commander-in-Chief cares and does not leave his people. It was extremely important and pleasant for me," Vitaliy Markiv said.
The National Guard said he was very pleased with the decision of the Milan Court of Appeal. Vitaliy Markiv added that in prison he wrote and read a lot, and especially studied the history of Ukraine.
"I kept every picture, every letter that was sent to me and brought them home. This decision is a victory of the whole team, and first of all of truth and justice,” Vitaliy Markiv emphasized.
Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov noted that Vitaliy Markiv is a student of the National Academy of Internal Affairs.
The Minister of Internal Affairs noted that the National Guard has to undergo medical rehabilitation and wants to continue his career as a serviceman.
The President also praised the strength of spirit of Vitaliy Markiv.
"You have high moral qualities, and I am glad that we have such servicemen. You are an example for many," Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
