The "Large Restoration" program for the renovation of historical monuments and cultural heritage sites is designed for several years and will envisage various funding systems, including public-private partnership. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during an interview for Ukrainian TV channels in the framework of the All-Ukrainian Forum "Ukraine 30. Infrastructure".
Answering the question by a journalist whether a concession option is possible for the implementation of the "Large Restoration" program, following the example of European countries, the President said that several formats of funding are being considered.
"We need to walk many paths: concession, public-private partnership, private sector, and the state must invest separately. Because restoration around the world takes not even decades, but centuries. This is a program we are starting now in Ukraine and it will not stop. We have a lot of historical monuments - it is simply impossible to restore all this in three, five or ten years. During this time, I am sure, we will restore the main important "magnets" for tourism, everything else is a big job to be done. The most important thing is that we have started," the Head of State said.
According to him, UAH 300 million are provided at the first stage of financing, which is necessary for the preparation of project documentation.
"We are now deciding what historical and cultural monuments can be considered as concession projects," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
