Advisor to the President of Ukraine Vladyslav Vlasiuk met with representatives of the United Nations World Food Programme to discuss the continued implementation of the "Grain from Ukraine" program.
The discussion focused on increasing assistance to the countries that need it most, with a particular emphasis on providing food aid to the people of Syria.
"Aid to Syria is a very important issue for the President of Ukraine. This is assistance from the Ukrainian nation to the people of Syria, who, like us, know all too well what it means to suffer because of the Russians. We would like to continue our cooperation in ensuring food security," said Vladyslav Vlasiuk.
According to the Presidential Advisor, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food have agreed on a preliminary list of products that Ukraine can provide to other countries with the support of the UN WFP. This year, further expansion of the "Grain from Ukraine" presidential initiative is planned.
Richard Ragan, WFP Country Director in Ukraine, noted that the organization is particularly interested in oil and is also considering the purchase of corn, wheat, and peas. He also emphasized that the WFP is currently working to accelerate the food supply process, particularly for Syria.
