Continued Financial Support and Efforts for Peace: President Meets with U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with U.S. Congressman and Co-Chair of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus Brian Fitzpatrick.

The Head of State emphasized the support Ukraine has received from the United States – from the entire American people, as well as both chambers and both parties in the U.S. Congress – since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression.

Key topics of the meeting included efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace, as well as the U.S. proposal for an unconditional ceasefire. The President emphasized that Ukraine immediately supported the proposal, while Russia has been rejecting U.S. diplomatic efforts for 37 consecutive days already.

The conversation also touched upon security guarantees for Ukraine, defense assistance, engagement with Congress, and sanctions against Russia.

Brian Fitzpatrick assured the President that there is a group of Republicans standing in favor of continued financial aid for Ukraine and ensuring a strong negotiating position. The U.S. Congressman expressed confidence that once the Ukraine funding bill comes to the floor, it will receive overwhelming support in the U.S. Congress.

“I wanted you to know that, because as these negotiations are going back and forth, you should know that you're in a position of strength because of people like us, and we are willing to make those tough decisions to support you,” Brian Fitzpatrick said.
