President inspected the reconstruction of the bridge across the Khadzhibey Estuary - The problem of traffic jam at the entrance to Odesa will be solved

During a working trip to the Odesa region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy inspected the reconstruction of the bridge across the Khadzhibey Estuary on the Kyiv-Odesa highway.

Head of the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) Oleksandr Kubrakov noted that one half of the bridge has already been reconstructed.

"Everyone remembers that there were traffic jams here, at the entrance to Odesa. This has had a negative impact on tourism throughout the region. Now this most acute problem has been removed, three lanes are working. By the next May holidays, we will have completed the other half. There will be six lanes and no more traffic jams (at the entrance to Odesa  - ed.)," Oleksandr Kubrakov said.

The President asked how the weight control of vehicles at the bridge crossing will be carried out.

Oleksandr Kubrakov noted that the weigh-in-motion system (WIM) is planned to be installed on the bridge across the Khadzhibey Estuary.

"I am glad that this bridge crossing is being actively reconstructed. If we say that Odesa is our pearl, getting here should be comfortable," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Oleksandr Kubrakov told about the construction of a new road to the port of Odesa. According to him, the tender for the construction of a new road has already been announced, so preparatory work can begin this year.

The Head of Ukravtodor informed the President about the reconstruction of 314 km of the M-05 highway. The Verkhovna Rada ratified an agreement with the European Investment Bank, which provides for financing of the reconstruction of the highway. The agreement with the EBRD is expected to be signed in October 2021. This will allow major repair to begin in 2021.
