During the negotiations of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Andrej Babiš, the parties noted a substantial economic component of the visit of the head of the Czech government to Ukraine.
“The powerful composition of Czech business representatives accompanying the Prime Minister demonstrates that our efforts on the improvement of business climate attract foreign business. I believe that today's Ukrainian-Czech Business Forum will increase the volume of Czech investments in Ukraine and intensify mutual trade,” the President said.
The Head of State also thanked Andrej Babiš for the decision on the rehabilitation of Ukrainian military in Czech medical institutions and for a meaningful meeting.
“Such assistance is very important for us, for every Ukrainian. Thank you, dear Mr. Prime Minister, for the fruitful negotiations. I hope that we will summarize the first results of the implementation of our agreements during the next meeting of the Ukrainian-Czech Commission for Economic, Industrial and Scientific and Technical Cooperation, which is to take place in Kyiv shortly,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
The Head of State also noted that about 100 representatives of Czech business had come to Ukraine.
“We devoted much of our talk to the actions required from the Ukrainian side to increase the number of Czech companies opening in Ukraine and the investments of Czech capital. Namely, the protection of these investments and respect in business relations,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy added, expressing hope that business relations between Ukraine and the Czech Republic will improve.
For his part, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Andrej Babiš called the meeting with the President of Ukraine a reboot of relations.
“The delegation of our entrepreneurs is very large. I am also here with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Czech Government. Our discussions and meetings have been very sincere, friendly and very specific,” he said.
Andrej Babiš recalled that since 2014, the Czech Republic had provided 15 million euros in aid, and supported the implementation of reforms.
“All of our entrepreneurs and investors monitor anti-corruption activities and reform of the legal system. The rule of law is of particular importance for us, as well as for the business environment,” the Czech Prime Minister emphasized.
“I consider this visit very important. We had a pause of 10 years, now we need to catch up. I am convinced that we will be able to turn the common economic goals, which we have specified for our enterprises, into an increase in trade between the Czech Republic and Ukraine,” Andrej Babiš added.
