Acceleration of vaccination and fight against forgery of PCR tests and COVID-19 certificates were discussed at a meeting with the President

The increase in the incidence of COVID-19 in Ukraine, the acceleration of the vaccination process and the fight against forgery of PCR tests and vaccination certificates were discussed by participants of the conference call chaired by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that two meetings of the State Commission on Technogenic and Ecological Safety and Emergencies took place last week. On October 15, a "red" level of epidemic danger was introduced in the Kherson region. Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and Odesa regions also joined the "red" zone on October 18.

It was reminded at the meeting that from October 21 new rules for interregional transport will be introduced - it will be available only to persons who have COVID-certificates or current negative PCR tests.

According to Denys Shmyhal, a total of 14.5 million vaccinations have been made in Ukraine so far. 8 million people were vaccinated, of which 6.5 million received two doses. Vaccination rates for five consecutive weeks remain at 750-760 thousand. 762 thousand vaccinations were performed last week.

Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko noted that 95% of those hospitalized with COVID-19 are unvaccinated.

During the meeting, the head of government instructed the head of the Ministry of Health to immediately update and approve the schedule of vaccinations for each region. The heads of regional state administrations must submit schedules to the vaccination facilities, approve and monitor their observance.

For his part, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed to closely monitor the situation with the work of vaccination centers in the regions during the week, especially on weekends.

"It is clear that it is more convenient for people to get vaccinated on Saturday and Sunday. The task of the Ministry of Health and local authorities is to provide such an opportunity," the Head of State said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also stressed the need to accelerate the pace of vaccination. Separately, he stressed the need for a comprehensive approach to the information campaign among Ukrainians about the importance of vaccinations.

The leadership of the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine reported on the fight against forgery of PCR tests and COVID certificates. Violators, including doctors, laboratory representatives and intermediaries, are already being prosecuted.
