During a working trip to the Odesa region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in the presentation of the Regional Development Strategy for 2021-2027.
"Today we continue to present strategies for the development of Ukrainian regions. On October 25 local elections will take place in our country. Now, when a very important reform for Ukraine, the decentralization reform, is coming to an end, these elections are crucial. The regions receive significant powers and funding. And every inhabitant of the region must clearly understand how his funds are used, what they are used for and, most importantly, why,” the Head of State said during his speech at the presentation of the Strategy.
According to him, regional development strategies are designed to answer these questions.
According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, each region of the country has a huge potential and future. The main thing is to clearly define your strengths and develop them in partnership with the central government moving forward, to prosperity.
In particular, the Odesa region has incredible prospects, the President stressed.
"We always call Odesa a "pearl by the sea". In my opinion, it is too modest, because Odesa is a whole treasure by the sea," he said.
The Head of State noted that the Odesa region is a logistics hub, a sea gate and a tourist heart of Ukraine. The Odesa region has great potential for regional production, agriculture and transit industry, development of small, medium and large businesses, science, culture and sports.
"We must make this region a place where you want to relax, travel, study and work. And all this in one word is to live," Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The President called for less talk and more work to show the result in the near future, "and global transformations should not be stretched for decades, but implemented in the next few years".
