President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with President of the United States Donald Trump.
The Ukrainian leader thanked the U.S. President for the productive start to the work of the Ukrainian and American teams in Jeddah on March 11. This meeting significantly helped in moving toward ending the war. The leaders agreed that Ukraine and the United States should continue working together to achieve a lasting peace. Together with the United States, with President Trump, and under American leadership, it can be achieved this year.
Donald Trump shared the details of his yesterday's conversation with Vladimir Putin and the key issues discussed. Ending strikes on energy and other civilian infrastructure could be the first step toward fully ending the war and ensuring security. Volodymyr Zelenskyy supported this step, and Ukraine confirmed its readiness to implement it.
In addition, in Jeddah, the American side proposed an unconditional ceasefire on the frontline, and our state accepted this proposal as well. Ukraine will continue working to make this happen. Such steps are necessary to create the possibility for a comprehensive peace agreement to be prepared during the ceasefire.
The Ukrainian leader provided an update on the battlefield situation, the course of the operation in the Kursk region, and the consequences of Russian strikes.
The parties also touched on the issue of the release of POWs and the return of Ukrainian children. The presidents also discussed the state of Ukraine's air defense and the possibility of strengthening it to protect lives.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump instructed their teams to resolve technical issues related to implementing and expanding the partial ceasefire. The Ukrainian and American teams are ready to meet in Saudi Arabia in the coming days to continue coordinating steps toward peace. The Presidents instructed their advisors and representatives to carry out this work as quickly as possible. They also noted the positive work of U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, U.S. Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha, Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov and Deputy Head of the Office of the President Pavlo Palisa.
The President of Ukraine and the President of the United States emphasized that in further meetings, the teams can agree on all necessary aspects of advancing toward lasting peace and security guarantees.
