During a working trip to Donbas, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President of the Swiss Confederation Simonetta Sommaruga got themselves acquainted with the construction of the Severodonetsk-Stanytsia Luhanska state highway, which is carried out in the framework of the National Great Construction Program.
The Severodonetsk - Stanytsia Luhanska highway consists of four road sections. Transport connection is now restored at all sites. It is also planned to carry out repair work on the roads Starobilsk - Milove, Starobilsk - Novyi Aidar, Severodonetsk - checkpoint "Zolote".
“We didn’t stop any infrastructure projects – construction of schools, kindergartens and roads – for the period of quarantine,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Head of Ukravtodor Oleksandr Kubrakov demonstrated the schedule of construction of roads in the Luhansk region. In 2014-2016, roads haven’t been constructed in the region at all. In 2017-2019, only a few dozens of kilometers have been built.
“At the same time, only in the first half of 2020, 130 kilometers of roads have been built in the region,” Oleksandr Kubrakov informed.
The President of Switzerland was sincerely amazed by such figures.
“Ukraine even outstrips Switzerland in terms of the pace of road construction,” she said.
Deputy Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Tymoshenko noted that in the framework of the Great Construction ER departments in medical institutions and stadiums are built as well.
“This region hasn’t seen such a quality of roads, which are equipped with modern infrastructure objects, even bus stops with solar batteries,” Kyrylo Tymoshenko noted.
This year it is planned to repair other important roads of local and state importance.
