In Geneva, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with President of Switzerland Guy Parmelin.
The Head of State thanked Switzerland for supporting Ukraine from the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion and informed him about the consequences of Russia’s attack on Ukraine on the night of June 15.
The Presidents discussed diplomatic efforts to achieve peace and the relevant work with partners. Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine’s positions on the frontline are now significantly stronger, while Ukrainian mid-range strikes and deep strikes are forcing Russia to feel the consequences of the war it unleashed.
The leaders discussed strengthening the sanctions policy against Russia, including new restrictions targeting the energy sector.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed him of Ukraine's needs to strengthen air defense.
Special attention was paid to cooperation in the energy sector. The President of Ukraine thanked Switzerland for its contribution to strengthening our country’s energy resilience during the past winter. The Head of State noted that Ukraine is counting on Switzerland’s contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund and on financing for gas purchases.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy invited the President of Switzerland to visit Ukraine.
