Presidents of Ukraine and France discussed cooperation in the investigation into UIA plane crash in Iran

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with President of France Emmanuel Macron.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to his French colleague for condolences over the plane crash in Iran.

“Support from your country is very important to us in this tragic time. I am grateful for France's readiness to assist in the investigation,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The parties noted that such a speedy arrival at the truth was the result of the clear work of the Ukrainian expert group in Iran and the consolidated support from international partners.

The Heads of State agreed on the involvement of French experts in deciphering the "black boxes" of the crashed plane.

Emmanuel Macron has pledged to facilitate a comprehensive investigation into the disaster and bringing those responsible for the crime to justice.

He informed that France had already started a formal procedure initiating a relevant international investigation at ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization).

The leaders of the two countries also discussed further steps to implement the agreements reached during the Normandy summit on December 9, 2019 in Paris. Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed the President of France of the current security situation in Donbas. The Heads of State agreed to continue the bilateral dialogue.

In addition, the parties agreed to hold a trilateral phone call in the Ukraine - France - Germany format in the near future.

Emmanuel Macron accepted the invitation of Volodymyr Zelenskyy to visit Kyiv.
