In Lutsk, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with combat veterans from the Volyn region, who defended the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine in Donbas, in the ATO/JFO area.
Veterans raised a number of issues relevant to them, primarily access to healthcare and improving social security. In addition to the three existing treatment programs, they discussed the possibility of creating a new program that would cover expensive medical care for veterans with disabilities.
"For the state, this is a small amount compared to what you gave and give to Ukraine. That is why I completely agree with you here," the President said.
Mother of one of the fallen soldiers also appealed to Volodymyr Zelenskyy with a request to cancel entertainment events and the work of entertainment establishments on the Day of Remembrance of Defenders of Ukraine on August 29. Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that this issue has already been worked out, and the Defenders' Remembrance Day will be a real day of honoring and mourning for those who gave their most precious thing for Ukraine - their lives.
The President stressed that the Presidential Office has recently established an Advisory Council for the Affairs of the War Veterans, Families of the Deceased, which provides assistance to the defenders of Ukraine. The President expects that the Council will deal with the main issues of communication and help solve current problems.
