President met the Ukrainian community in Latvia

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with the Ukrainian Diaspora and stressed on the importance of its role in supporting the Ukrainian State during his official visit to Latvia.

“You are a small Ukraine in Latvia, so you should not be different. As we are in Ukraine, you must be united and remember that it depends on each of you when there will be peace, when we will return our territories, all our citizens and definitely will win this war,” the Head said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that the Ukrainian Diaspora was “our doves of peace” that bring the truth to the world about the events in Ukraine.

“These are indeed our great diplomats, except for Ambassadors, Embassies, people's diplomats of Ukraine,” the Head of State said.

Students of the Riga Ukrainian School performed the National Anthem of Ukraine.

“It is very nice that our Anthem sounds in the center of Riga,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The President urged representatives of the Diaspora not to forget the days of memory of Ukrainian soldiers who had died for the independence of our State.

He thanked Riga City Hall for creating the Ukrainian Garden in the city.

Also, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President of the Republic of Latvia Egils Levits laid flowers at the Freedom Monument located in the center of Riga. It symbolizes the unity and statehood of Latvia. It is dedicated to the victims of the country's independence.

In addition, the President of Ukraine together with his wife Olena laid flowers to the monument to Taras Shevchenko and visited the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia.
