President met with families of AFU and National Guard servicemen killed under suspicious circumstances

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a meeting with relatives of the AFU and National Guard servicemen killed under suspicious circumstances in the years of war and recognized suiciders by the investigative agencies.

The relatives of the deceased stressed that the investigative bodies were trying to misrepresent death of their relatives as suicide despite the fact that in some cases traces of beating and gunshot wounds had been found on the bodies. Sometimes there are eye-witnesses to the murder and even the names of those who committed it are known.

"I faced this last autumn when one of my comrades was killed, then hung up and passed off as a banal suicide. We faced the endless circle and lack of objective investigation,” Serhiy Ulyanov, a former serviceman, noted.

The Head of State took the given issues under his personal control and gave the corresponding instructions to Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ruslan Riaboshapka.

"If we can achieve a complete, comprehensive and objective investigation of individual cases, this will help get things moving in other investigations that you consider unreliable. I will require the State Bureau of Investigation, the National Police, the prosecutor's office and other law enforcement bodies to investigate the death of each warrior as promptly and objectively as possible," the President said.

For his part, Ruslan Riaboshapka suggested arranging a meeting of the families of the killed soldiers with the leaders of the law enforcement bodies, military units of the Armed Forces and the National Guard, the Military Law and Order Service, the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in order to clarify the situation with the state of investigation of such tragedies and their socio-legal consequences.
