President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a meeting with Secretary of State for Defence of the United Kingdom Grant Shapps, who is on a visit to our country.
The Head of State expressed gratitude to the government and people of the UK for their leadership in providing assistance to Ukraine.
"It is symbolic that it was with the United Kingdom that we signed the first agreement on security cooperation during Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's recent visit to Ukraine. Thank you for this support," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The interlocutors discussed further defence cooperation to bolster air defence and long-range capabilities of the Ukrainian Defence Forces, meet other urgent needs of our country in weapons and ammunition, and establish joint weapons production.
The parties noted Ukraine's significant progress in ensuring freedom of navigation in the Black Sea and emphasised the importance of further unimpeded functioning of the Black Sea transport corridor.
