During a working trip to Chernihiv region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with a bipartisan and bicameral delegation from the U.S. Congress.

The delegation included Republican Senator Joni Ernst, Democratic members of the House of Representatives Wiley Nickel, Tom Suozzi, Michael Quigley, and Republican members Ashley Hinson and Chuck Edwards, who were visiting Ukraine.

The Head of State thanked U.S. President Joseph Biden, his administration, and both chambers and parties of the U.S. Congress for their steadfast support of Ukraine during the Russian invasion.

"I am grateful for the visit of the bipartisan and bicameral delegation to Chernihiv region, which is a powerful signal of support for all Ukrainians. It is very important that in the village of Yahidne, you saw with your own eyes the terrible consequences of Russian aggression," said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The President emphasized the vital need for the United States Congress to promptly adopt a decision on providing a support package.

The Head of State extensively briefed the U.S. Congress delegation on the situation on the front lines, the urgent needs of Ukraine's defense forces, as well as the scale of the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia.

The President acknowledged the role of the U.S. Congress in shaping the legal framework for the use of immobilized Russian assets for Ukraine's needs.

He also added that support from partners regarding the production of weapons and ammunition in Ukraine is crucial.
