In Washington, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Democratic Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives Hakeem Jeffries, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark, U.S. Representative Pete Aguilar, Honorable Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Appropriations Committee Co-Chairwoman Rosa DeLauro, Armed Services Committee Co-Chairman Adam Smith, Foreign Affairs Committee Co-Chairman Gregory Meeks, and Intelligence Committee Co-Chairman Jim Himes.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the President of the United States, both chambers and both parties of Congress, as well as all the American people for their continued support of Ukraine.

"I am very glad to be here, thank you for the invitation. We are grateful to the United States for taking strong decisions in support of our country from the very beginning of the war," he said.

The President emphasized that Russia continues its missile terror against the civilian infrastructure and energy facilities of Ukraine. The strike on the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital in Kyiv has once again demonstrated the importance of strengthening Ukrainian air defense and expanding permission to use American weapons against military targets in Russia.

The Head of State noted that it is important to speed up the delivery of F-16 fighter jets and defense assistance from the already approved packages.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the role of Congress in limiting the resources of the aggressor state to continue the war against Ukraine, supporting the sanctions pressure intensification, and recognizing the need to continue these measures.

The President of Ukraine awarded Hakeem Jeffries with the Order of Merit, I class.
