4 December 2020 - 21:14

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope that MPs will demonstrate the same unity when voting in the second reading for the next year's state budget as when adopting a package of laws on business support and social assistance to citizens for the lockdown period.

In his vlog, the Head of State noted that this week the parliament worked well, many important decisions were made.

The people's deputies voted for the laws initiated by Volodymyr Zelenskyy to support people and business during quarantine.

In addition, the Verkhovna Rada restored the criminal liability of officials for false declarations.

"It is important that we have made it before 2021, so those who lied this year will not evade responsibility," the President said.

"It is a pity that so far the responsibility is not as strict as we would like. But I am glad that that’s for now, "he added.

MPs also supported the presidential bill to postpone for a year the introduction of PTRs (payment transactions recorders) for sole proprietorships, taking into account the wishes of businesses.

Finally, the law on inland waterway transport has been adopted, which will create a normal, competitive market for river passenger and freight transport.

"This is approximately 15 billion in economic effect for the state per year. Plus, it saves your roads, and they showed up. Fewer trucks, therefore less load, therefore we do not need to make repairs so often, and therefore - it saves your money, taxpayers' money,” the President noted.

He thanked the people’s deputies of all factions for the fruitful week of the Verkhovna Rada.

"A very important second reading of the State Budget of Ukraine is ahead. I hope for your solidarity. For your unity," the President stressed.
