President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in a meeting of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada and discussed the need to reset the Constitutional Court with people's deputies.
During a meeting, the Head of State called on the faction to support the early termination of powers of the current composition of the Constitutional Court.
According to the President, if public confidence in the Constitutional Court is not restored, the country will lose the opportunity to receive any international financial assistance. In addition, Ukraine's visa-free regime with the European Union, as well as support from the EU, NATO, the International Monetary Fund and other international partners, are under threat.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that it is impossible to restore the anticorruption legislation without a decision to dismiss the judges of the Constitutional Court.
"Any new decision of the parliament to restore such criminal responsibility will be a priori ineffective. There will even be no need to challenge it again in the Constitutional Court," the President said.
The Head of State noted that in this case, any criminal charge for violations during submission of declaration would be absurd and invalid even after the adoption of a new law in this regard.
"If you vote for this decision, you will vote for the people. Otherwise, you are defending the judges of the Constitutional Court," Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
The President also called on people's deputies from the Servant of the People faction to be responsible when voting for the draft state budget for 2021. Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the state budget must be approved in time.
The Head of State noted that people's deputies from the Servant of the People faction should remind Ukrainians that they are modern politicians of a new type.
