President paid tribute to the Heroes of Kruty

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in the ceremony of honoring the Heroes of Kruty.

The Head of State laid flowers to the memorial cross to the Heroes of Kruty in Askold's Grave in Kyiv.

The victims were honored with a moment of silence. After that, the National Anthem of Ukraine was played. The warriors of the honor guard saluted with personal weapons and marched solemnly near the memorial cross.

The President also put an icon lamp to the graves of Hero of Ukraine Oleksandr Klitynsky, who died in the Trade Unions Building during the Revolution of Dignity, and Markiyan Paslavsky, a cavalier of the Order of Danylo Halytsky who died in the battles for Ilovaisk.

"Today, just as more than a hundred years ago, Ukraine's threat is the same. The defenders of the state in the battle near Kruty performed essentially the same task as the military near Marinka. Although the conditions are different - we are now really stronger. Our dreams are a little different, because we have a lot of things previous generations couldn’t even think about in 1918," the Head of State said.

The President urged not to forget during the political confrontations the honor and sincerity with which Ukrainians defended and defend their state - both near Kruty and in Donbas.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also took part in a prayer service in the Church of St. Nicholas in Askold's Grave.

The ceremony was also attended by Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak.
