As part of the initiative of the Head of the State to provide housing for servicemen – Heroes of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy handed out another 30 certificates for receiving apartments to warriors from the Armed Forces who were awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine and to families of fallen Heroes.
Addressing those present at the meeting at the Mariyinsky Palace, the Head of the State noted that today's event is a continuation of the tradition of particular respect for Ukrainian Heroes.
"The Order of the Golden Star is a testament to unaltered gratitude and honor for every Ukrainian whose bravery is extraordinary and whose deeds on the battlefield deserve nationwide attention. Ukraine will always remember all of its Heroes. It will always speak to every future generation of Ukrainians about the Heroes our country has. About existing and future Heroes. And we respected them and will respect," said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
As the President pointed out, today's gratitude is expressed to the warriors who exemplarily demonstrated themselves in the defense of Ukraine and its people, helping preserve Ukrainian statehood after 2014 and after February 24, 2022. These are the defenders of Donetsk Airport, the defenders of Mariupol and Azovstal, participants in the battles for independence in Mykolaiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Kyiv regions.
"I thank every Hero and all the families of our Heroes for defending Ukraine. I thank everyone who will cherish the memory of our Heroes! Glory to Ukrainian warriors! May the memories of Ukrainians, men and women, who gave their lives in battles for Ukraine, future generations, and our independence always be bright!" the Head of the State said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented 30 certificates for apartments: 15 to Heroes of Ukraine and 15 to families of fallen soldiers posthumously awarded this title.
The President personally handed over housing certificates to 13 Heroes of Ukraine from the Armed Forces, a National Guard warrior, and an employee of the Security Service of Ukraine. The certificates were awarded to Colonel of the Medical Service Eduard Khoroshun, Lieutenant Colonel Yevhen Bova, Colonel Ivan Holishevsky, Major Serhiy Ponomarenko, Major Kyrylo Veres, Colonel Oleksandr Zuhravy, Captain Oleksandr Liashenko, Colonel Roman Mamavko, Colonel Vadym Sukharevsky, Major Serhiy Volynsky, Major Oleh Khomenko, Colonel Oleh Honcharuk, Colonel Valeriy Padytel, and Junior Sergeant Bohdan Mahalias.
Certificates were also presented to the families of 12 servicemen from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two border guards, and one National Guard soldier: Junior Sergeant Ihor Zinych, Soldier Ihor Branovytsky, Captain Serhiy Kolodiy, Sergeant Serhiy Mykhailchuk, Colonel Oleksandr Oksanchenko, Lieutenant Colonel Oleksandr Kapichun, Soldier Andriy Nikonchuk, Soldier Oleh Svynchuk, Senior Lieutenant Pavlo Usov, Soldier Roman Martseniuk, Master Sergeant Oleksandr Tsiupak, Major Heorhiy Strelkov, Major Oleh Chornomorets, Soldier Yuriy Kovalchuk, and Major Ivan Volochiy. The family of Colonel Oleksandr Oksanchenko gifted the Head of the state a chevron of the deceased soldier.
According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy's initiative, the state will provide apartments to all Ukrainian soldiers of enlisted and officer ranks who have been awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine and to family members of those posthumously awarded this title.
