President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commends the support for Ukraine's independence and sovereignty, as well as for the important reforms in our country, as expressed in the final communiqué of the G7 leaders’ summit.

In a joint statement on the results of the summit, the participants of the summit stressed their support for Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.

The G7 leaders called on Russia to ease tensions and act in accordance with its international obligations and withdraw troops and weapons from Ukraine's eastern border, as well as reduce their concentration on the occupied Crimean peninsula.

"We firmly hold the position that Russia is a party to the conflict in eastern Ukraine, not a mediator," the statement said.

The summit participants also support the Normandy negotiation process to ensure the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

The G7 leaders called on Russia and Russia-backed armed groups to reaffirm their commitment to a ceasefire.

"We reaffirm our efforts to strengthen Ukrainian democracy and institutions by encouraging further progress in reforms," the summit participants noted.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commended the clear support for Ukraine by the G7 states.

"I am grateful to the leaders of Great Britain, Germany, Canada, Italy, the United States, France, Japan and the EU for their continued support for Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, as well as for urging the aggressor to withdraw troops from our eastern borders and Crimea. Crimea is Ukraine," the Head of State stressed.
